I was talking to a friend about going back and finding my collection of diaries that I kept through medical school and residency. I always said to myself that I have no idea where I would end up and how medicien would change me so I wanted to have a record of where I had been. I had no idea of how accurate that statement would turn out to be.

My disclaimer: I have a “gift” of unadulterated honesty(I believe the word crudeness has been used more often to describe me. My frontal lobe just doesn’t overwork itself as far as filtering out my statements). The benefit of that is that in the stuff I wrote over the last few years you can pretty much catch a bit of the visceral flavor in my writing. 2- I can’t spell. Neither can most of the physicians that will teach the lectures you will learn- somewhere during the course of becoming a pseudogenius i became an idiot savant as far as spelling is concerned.3. I’ve become quite prolific at using compund cursewords and med school helped me further refine this skill. Entries written at 4AM while on call are not for the kiddies-
finally- the stories are in no chronological order.

So now- years later here is my n’th attempt at a diary. Where am I now? You know- I get a lot of emails about that. I guess this would be as good a time as any to describe where I have been. This is going to be dull and is written in a stream of consciousnes while I’m at work so… I’ll try to go back and make it neater later (yeah right).
