I just discovered the Facebook Connect Plugin Directory . It lists several plugins that allow developers and bloggers to integrate the facebook community into their blog from features such as login using your facebook user , the upcoming Disqus comment management system. As discussed in the New York Times this is part of a strategy to extend the reach of facebook beyond the site to the rest of the web as well as the “social web browsing” movement.
Other Similar technologies include the following:
- Google Friend Connect, -currently in beta- but then again so is Gmail and I’ve been using that for years
- MyBlogLog- from Yahoo
- BlogCatalog
- MySpace Data Availability
